Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a common disease in geriatric. Diabetes in geriatric is metabolically distinct from diabetes in other patient populations, so that the necessary election medicine oral antidiabetes right to determine the success of therapy diabetes melitus. The aim of this study was determined the various of oral antidiabetic drugs in geriatric patients with type 2 diabetes and suitability of the oral antidiabetic drugs use for geriatric patients with type 2 diabetes to the 2006 PERKENI and Formulary set out by the Dr. Moewardi Hospital. This is a descriptive study with retrospective. The data was used the secondary data obtained from medical records of geriatric patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus of which contains the patient name, ages, diagnosis, drug type and duration of drug use. The result showed that the antidiabetic drug use for geriatric paties in Dr. Moewardi hospitals on the period of October 2014 to March 2015 are 24.05% sulfonylurea, 60.76% biguanide, and the combination 15.19%. The recipe which has a right indication is 100%, the right drug 92.4%, the right dose of 100% and 96.2% of patients appropriate. The drug use of type 2 diabetes mellitus on geriatrics patients Dr. Moewardi hospital are in accordance with formulary and 2006 PERKENI. Keywords: Diabetes mellitus, Geriatrics, oral antidiabetic
