Abstract
Appendicitis is an inflammation due to infection of appendix. One of them is acute appendicitis that the most common causes emergency abdominal surgery. This study aims to determine the use of prophylaxis antibiotic in appendicitis patient at surgery ward of PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital Surakarta in 2013 and 2014. And compared its compliance with Standards of Medical Care and SFAR guideline. This research was descriptive study with data collection conducted retrospectively from medical record of appendicitis patient at surgery ward in 2013 and 2014. The study data was the use of antibiotic prophylaxis in surgical appendicitis patient in PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital Surakarta. The method using Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC) or Defined Daily Dose (DDD). Results from this study based on ATC / DDD and DU90% methods, known that the use of prophylactic antibiotic in 2013 were ceftriaxone (74.02%), cefotaxime (17.62%), ceftazidime (0.79%), ampisillin (3.54%), amoksisillin (1.57%), sefaperazon-sulbactam (1.97%), amoksisillin-potassium clavulanate (0.49%). While prophylactic antibiotic used in 2014 were ceftriaxone (71.05%), cefotaxime (15.36%), cefuroxime (10.68%), ceftazidime (0.44%), sefoperazonsulbactam (0.79%), amoksisillin-potassium clavulanate (1.68%). The most widely use of antibiotic was ceftriaxone. Compliance based SPM in 2013 (14.28%) and 2014 (16.67%), based on SFAR guideline in 2013 and 2014 (0%).
