Abstract

Pneumonia is a disease acute lower respiratory tract infection, which is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in Indonesia. Pneumonia morbidity in the group of children under five in Indonesia is around 10-20% namely 6 million cases per year and the mortality rate reached 26%. Management of pneumonia with antibiotics as a therapeutic option. The purpose of this study was to determine the pattern and suitability of the use of antibiotics in patients with pediatric pneumonia in Inpatient Installation Hospital Dr. Soegiri Lamongan 2014 with formulary, Guideline and Standard of Medical Care. This study was descriptive non-experimental with data collection retrospectively through medical record. The data used was antibiotic use in pediatric pneumonia at Inpatient Installation of Dr. Soegiri Hospital Lamongan in 2014. Data analysis about suitability of antibiotic administration based Hospital Formulary of Dr. Soegiri Lamongan in 2014, Guideline (Pharmacotherapy Principles and practice) and Standard of Medical Care. The results showed that single antibiotic cefotaxime and combination of ampicillin and gentamicin were the most widely use of antibiotic. Antibiotic use wassuitable(100%) by RSUD Dr. Soegiri Lamongan Formulary in 2014-2015. Suitability based on Guideline (Pharmacotherapy A Pathophysiologic Approach) in 2009 with criteria right indication (100%), right drug (100%), right dosage (69.23%) and right patient (100%). Suitability based on Standard of Medical Care in 2008 with criteria right indication (100%), right drug (0%), right dosage (89.34%) and right patient (100%).
