Abstract

Aloe vera (Aloe Vera Linn) of various studies have shown that the leaves of aloe (Aloe Vera Linn) can also be utilized as an antibacterial, antifungal, and wound healing. This study was conducted to determine the antibacterial activity of petroleum ether extract of leaves of aloe (Aloe Vera Linn) Staphylococus aureus bacteria resistant to ciprofloxacin and methicillin. This study uses petroleum ether solvent to extract aloe leaves were then tested by diffusion method and dilution method. Thick leaves of the aloe vera extract is then made various concentrations, to concentrate on the diffusion method is made of 50%, 25% and 12.5%, while the concentration used for dilution method is 50%, 25%, 12.5%, 6.25 %, 3.12%, 1.56%, 0.78%, 0.39%, 0.19%, 0.097%. The results showed that the petroleum ether extract of leaves of aloe vera has the ability as an antibacterial against Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin resistant to ciprofloxacin. Diffusion test results were shown by the results of inhibition zone diameter of the most owned by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus resistant to ciprofloxacin with an average diameter of 18.66 mm at a concentration of 50%. Results of data obtained from dilution method shows the most active antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus resistant to ciprofloxacin with KBM of 12.5%, and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus have KBM 25%. Key words : Aloe Vera Linn, Petroleum eter, Staphylococcus aureus resisten.
