Animal test was divided into 5 groups, each group consist of 5 male rats, namely: Group I negative control (CMC 0.5%), Group II drug control (glibenclamide) with dose 0.09 mg/200 g BW rat, and Group III, IV, V given doses of water extract of acalypha herb 30 mg/200 g BW rat, 60 mg/200 g BW rat, 120 mg/200 g BW rat, respectively. All groups induced alloxan on day 0 (after fasted for 16 hours) intraperitoneally. Treatment was given 3 days after alloxan induction. Examination of blood sugar level was conducted on day 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th, and 15th after administration of preparation test. The test results showed that water extract of acalypha herb dose 30 mg/200 g BW rat, dose 60 mg/200 g BW rat, dose 120 mg/200 g BW rat could decrase blood glucose level. Water extract of acalypha herb dose 60 mg/200 g BW rat was effective in decrease blood glucose level. Keywords : Acalypha australis Linn, alloxan, antidiabetic, water extract
