Abstract

Foundation serves to cover the surface layer of facial asymmetry, scarring, closing the pores - pores, or even new - this new foundation that both have an SPF (Sun Protect Filter) serves as a coating both on face to face protected from sting rays ultraviolet (UV) rays that can damage skin pigment or even more. Foundation can also help improve the texture of the powder in order to work more durable and better sticking with the existing surface of the skin so that the powder does not easily fade and makeup to be a mess. This study aims to establish the levels of preservatives nipagin the foundation spectrophotometry UV - Vis. The samples are bottled liquid foundation. Nipagin analysis done by testing the color with reference standards and assay nipagin performed using UVVis spectrophotometer with methanol solvent, at a wavelength of 248 nm. The test results of samples are positive sample containing nipagin fourth and one negative sample does not contain nipagin. A sample levels of 0.2127%, 0.2477% of the sample B, sample C of 0.2934%, and the sample E of 0.2478%. Nipagin levels do not exceed the maximum usage limit that has been set at 0.4%.
