Abstract

Uric Acid is kinds of disease that affects many people. It does not cause death, but the pain may interfere the patient activities when it recurred. Uric acid levels are usually normal at productive age. Meanwhile the levels of uric acid increase at elderly due to the deterioration of cells in the aging process which can result in organ weakness, physical deterioration, the onset of various diseases such as kidney stones, gout, and rheumatism. Regardless to those reasons, it is necessary to investigate the difference levels of uric acid in the productive age and elderly. The samples are 50 people for productive age and 50 people for elderly taken from Kampung Butuh RT 4 RW 3 Gandekan Jebres Surakarta. The examination of uric acid was done by using Enzymatic Colorimetric Test method. And the statistical test was done by using independent sample t-test at confidence level of 95% and significance level of <0.05. The results of the analysis showed that there were significant differences between the levels of uric acid in the productive age and elderly demonstrated with p value (0.000) <0.05. Based on the result, we can conclude that there is a difference between the levels of uric acid in the productive age and elderly. Keywords: Blood Uric Acid, Productive Age, Elderly
