Abstract

Urinary tract infection is a serious health problem that affects millions of people each year worldwide. Urinary tract infection depends on many factors such as age, gender, the prevalence of bacteriuria, and predisposing factors. UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) diagnosis is made by urine analysis and confirmed by urine culture. Leukosituria and bacteriuria is an important indicator in the diagnosis of UTI. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation bacteriuria and leukosituria in patient with suspected urinary tract infection. We obtained the data from secondary data taken from patient's medical record in dr. Moewardi Surakarta in April 2015. Furthermore, the data processing tested with SPSS statistical correlation. The results of this study were tested with Spearman correlation showed negative correlation and statistical significance between, the leukocytes urine with urine culture (r = +0.421, p = 0, 000). Because of the positive correlation coefficient with moderate strength meaning that if the leukocytes increases the urine culture will be positive. Microscopic examination of the urine prior to culture is also important to connect leukosituria and bakteruria. Keywords: leukocyte urine, urine culture, UTI
