Abstract

Traditional medicine is an ingredient or potion form of plant material, animal material, mineral material or mixture of these materials that have historically been used for treatment, and can be applied in accordance with the norms prevailing in society. Herbs has been known since hundreds years ago by the community to maintain physical health. The use of plant as herbs as many people do. The advantages of plant usage as herbs are low production cost, readily available raw material, and low side effect. Based on the results testing of herbs microbiologically, obtained results of Total Plate Count (TPC) that sample 1 obtained result 2,7x104 CFU/ml, and sample 2 obtained result 2,5x103 CFU/ml. MPN Coliform test obtained result on sample 1 2400/100ml, while in sample 2 13/100ml. The result test of isolation and identification of Salmonella sp that there was not found Salmonella sp in both samples. Test of isolation and identification of Staphylococcus aureus that conducted, the obtained result did not contain Staphylococcus aureus in both samples. Test of Yeast Fungus on sample 1 obtained result 4,2x105 CFU/ml while sample 2 obtained results 1,8x101 CFU/ml. From the test result could be concluded that the samples of herbs in Bibis Luhur, Surakarta did not meet qualify bacteriologically based on UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) in 1990.
