Abstract
Ngalang-ngalangan hamlet, village Senting, Boyolali majority of farmers. Farmers in conducting its activities are always in contact with the mud and water. It causes high risk for fungal infections. Mushrooms are usually the cause is dermatophytes. One part that is often exposed to a fungal infection that is on the nail. Nails that are infected by the fungus have abnormalities as discoloration and brittleness. Samples were obtained from the fingernail scrapings farmers who experienced fragility. Examination used is direct examination using 40% KOH solution. Examination of the indirect method using media culture Saboraud Dextrose Agar and incubated at room temperature for 7 days. The study, of the five samples of farmers who have brittle nail, two farmers found their Epidermophyton flocossum. Colonies examined using dye Lactophenol Cotton Blue and viewed under a microscope. Visible makrokonidia mace-shaped, thick-walled cell consist of 2-4. Key words: dermatophytes, brittle nails, farmers.
