Abstract
Infection disease is still the main problem of health in Indonesia . One of the causes of infection is Staphylococcus aureus. This study had conducted to make liquid soap formulation of leaves clover (Syzygium aromaticum (L.) Merr. & Perry) extract with variation of olive oil and potassium hydroxide as the base. Clover leaf is known to provide antibacterical effect against Staphylococcus aureus with concentration of 10%-20%. This study was aimed to find out whether clover leaves extract could be made liquid soap preparation and to know the best formula with variation of olive oil and potassium hydroxide which good physical property and antibacterial activity. This study had made 5 formulas with varying amounts of olive oil and potassium hydroxide used. Test were conducted to see the physical quality of liquid soap, among others were organoleptic test, homogeneity, pH, height of foam, viscosity, and antibacterical test to find a formula that has the most excellent antibacterial activity. Based on the study it was found that formula one with ratio of olive oil an potassium hydroxide 11:5 had good physical quality and good antibacterial activity and met the standards. Key words: clover leaf, liquid soap, olive oil, potassium hydroxide, antibacterial.
