Abstract

Purslane (Portulaca oleracea l.) can be used for traditional medicine as a diuretic. The purpose of this research is to know the effects of diuretic and an effective dose of ethanol extract of purslane herb on white male rat of wistar strain. Purslane herbs extraced with sokhlet method using ethanol 96%. This research uses 5 group treatment. Group I (positive control) furosemide, group II (negative control) suspension of CMC, the group III , IV, and V using the ethanol extract of the herbs purslane with dose 10,8 g/kg BW; 13,5 g/kg BW, and group V purslane herb extract ethanol dose 16,2 g/kg BW. The average volume of the urine of rats for 6 hours were analyzed statistically with ANOVA followed by Tukey's test. The results showed that the ethanol extract of herb purslane (Portulaca oleracea L) dose of 10,8 g/kg BW, a dose of 13,5 g/kg BW, and the dosage of 16,2 g/kg BWhas a diuretic effect on white male rat of wistar strain. Purslane herb extracts are effective as a diuretic dose in rat is 13.5 g/kg BW and 16.2 g/kg BW. The larger the dose given more power then the resulting diuretic.
