Abstract

Temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) is a medicinal plant that helps increase appetite, improve digestive function, and maintaining the health of the liver function. Rhizome temulawak in this study made tablets, as a binder using gelatin so that produce physical quality tablet that meets the requirements. The purpose of this research is to find out if the rhizome temulawak tablet can be made using gelatin Binder, to acquire the physical quality of Rhizome extract tablets temulawak is good. Research done by making 3 tablet formula extract temulawak with concentration of gelatin 5%, 10%, and 15% using a wet granulation method. Granule obtained then tested his physical properties through 3 testing i.e. drying shrinkage, flow time and angle still. Tablet is produced, tested his physical test includes quality uniformity of weight, hardness test, brittleness test, and the time was destroyed. The data were analyzed statistically variants of one road with a level of confidence of 95%. The results showed that the extract of the rhizome of temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) can be formulated into a tablet dosage forms as well as with the use of a gelatin Binder concentration of 5%, 10%, and 15% have an effect on the physical quality of a tablet that is increasing violence, declining and increasing fragility of time crushed tablets.
