Abstract

Recently, worm infection caused by the Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH), is still a public health problem in Indonesia. Worm infection is strongly supported by environmental sanitation and poor personal hygiene. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of Soil Transmitted Helminths infection and personal hygiene of trash hauler in the final garbage landfill of Putri Cempo Surakarta. This research was done by using osbservational with cross-sectional design. The research was condusted toward the workers of garbage landfill Putri Cempo Surakarta. 30 people were taken as the number of sample in this study. To determine the worm infection was done through feses examination and to determine the personal hygiene was done by questionaire. The data analysis was analyzed descriptively and presented the form of a frequency distribution. The results showed that four respondents are infected by Soil Transmitted Helminths, Ascaris lumbricoides. 26 respondents have good personal hygiene. 3 of the respondents who are infected by the worm have poor personal hygiene.
