Abstract

Infectious diseases are a disease caused by bacteria, one of which is Staphylococccus aureus. Treatment of infectious diseases can use medicinal plants. One of the medicinal plants are Chilli Rawit and Sente. Plants of Chili Pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) and Sente (Alocasia macrorrhizos (L.) G.Don) are herbs that contain nutritious chemical compounds. The purpose of this research is to know the antibacterial activity of Chili Pepper leaves and Sente leaves to Staphylococccus aureus. This research using extract of Chili Pepper leaves and Sente leaves made with 5 comparison that is C1: S0, C1: S2, C1: S1, C2: S1, C0:S1. Extracts obtained through maceration using 96% alcohol. Dilution of leaf extract of Chili Pepper and Sente each made with 80% concentration using 2% DMSO solvent. The method of testing antibacterial activity by disk diffusion method. The results of this study showed that the leaf extract of Chili Pepper and Sente have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. The antibacterial activity test against Staphylococcus aureus from laboratory culture showed the mean widest inhibitory diameter zone was C1:S0 extract with 9.50 mm diameter, while Staphylococcus aureus from pussy patient sample isolate showed the mean widest inhibitory diameter zone was C1:S0 extract with 9.33 mm diameter.
