Abstract
Occupational Health and Safety (K3) is the most important thing for a hospital since the effect of occupational accident and disease damage not only employees but also hospital. This study aims at proving the effect of occupational health and safety (K3) on laboratory technicians mediated by working motivation. This research is done on laboratory technicians at Dr. Moewardi Regional Public Hospital of Surakarta. The populations were 43 laboratory technicians at Dr.Moewardi Regional Public Hospital. Samples were taken using total sampling method. Data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis and path analysis with SPSS 17 version for windows software. The results indicate that occupational health and safety gives a positive effect on working performance with sig value of 0.000 less than 0.05. Occupational health and safety puts a positive effect on working motivation with sig value of 0.000 less than 0.05. However, working motivation does not mediate the influence of occupational health on performance since the direct influence is greater than the mediated one (0.060 > 0.046), and working motivation does not mediate the influence of occupation safety on performance because the direct influence is greater than the mediated one (0.294 > 0.153). Dr. Moewardi Regional Public Hospital of Surakarta should improve the occupation health and safety of its laboratory technicians in order to improve their working motivation; and hence, they can work with maximum performance.
