Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by elevated blood sugar levels. Diabetes mellitus patients will be successfully to control blood glucose levels if they have knowledge about diabetes mellitus and followed by positive attitude that the patients have a positive tendency or reaction in response to their disease. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between level of knowledge and attitudes of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with HbA1c levels at Dr. Moewardi General Hospital. This study used consecutive sampling technique with total sampling of 30 patients with diabetes mellitus checking HbA1c levels in Dr. Moewardi General Hospital in May - June 2018. The methods of data collection used questionnaires and data analysis techniques used the chi square test. The research obtained p value = 0.672 indicating there is no relationship between the level of knowledge of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with HbA1c levels, while the study of patient attitudes shows that there is a relationship between the attitudes of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with HbA1c levels at Dr.Moewardi General Hospital. This is evidenced by the p value = 0.001 indicating that there is a relationship between the attitude of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with HbA1c levels.
