Abstract
SYNTHESIS OF COMPOUNDS 1 - (4-aminophenyl)-3- FENILPROP-2-EN-1-ON WITH BENZALDEHID AND p- AMINASETOFENON AS STARTING MATERIAL WITH ETHANOL USE IN SOLVENT BASE CATALYST NaOH, Thesis, FACULTY OF PHARMACY, UNIVERSITY OF LOYAL MIND, SURAKARTA The purpose of this study is to modify the substituents on the benzene ring kalkon structure that is expected to improve the activity of kalkon primarily to increase the force elektrofility of α, β-unsaturated carbonyl that plays an important role in the activity of chalcone. The study begins by condensing benzaldehid with p-aminoasetofenon to form compound 1 - (4-aminophenyl)-3-fenilprop-2en-1-on at the base catalyst NaOH.Then the product was tested its purity with TLC, FTIR, and GC-MS. The result showed that using the starting material p-aminoasetofenon and benzaldehid was able to produce compound 1 - (4-aminophenyl)-3-fenilprop-2enon- 1 through Claissen-Schmidt condensation reaction using alkaline catalyst NaOH in ethanol solvent.
