Abstract
Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid that has a class of drugs as antiinflammatory effects. Dexamethasone has a solubility of highly insoluble in water. Sodium lauryl sulfate and PVP K30 are solubilizing agent that is able to increase the solubility of the active substance. This study was aimed to find out the proportion of solubilizing agent sodium lauryl sulfate and PVP K30 to get tablets with good dissolution and physical quality using simplex lattice design. Dexamethasone tablets were made by wet granulation method with ratio of sodium lauryl sulfate and PVP K30 i.e. (1.5:0.5); (1:1); and (0.5:1.5). Each formula was made into granules and tablets, then tested with the critical point parameters and optimized with Design Expert 9.0 program which includes the flow time, hardness, friability, disintegration time and dissolution. The optimum formula was then validated by comparing the response of a critical point between theoretical and experimental results using T test level of 95% confidence. The optimum formula that was based on the quality of the physical parameters of tablet critical point using Design Expert Version 9.0, obtained the proportion of sodium lauryl sulfate 0.906 and 1.093 PVP K30 that produced dexamethasone tablets with good physical quality, and the results of calculations obtained the optimum formula of Dissolution Efficiency (De) was 82.64% Keywords: Solubilizing agent, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), PVP K30,Dexamethasone,Simplex Lattice Design
