Abstract

This study aimed to explore the relationship between self-concept hedonic behavior in adolescents. The selfconcept is the ability to look at the person as an individual in the physical, social, and psychological that gained through the experience of others. (Teenagers who have high self-concept will not be susceptible to the surrounding environment, can regulate emotions and easy to communication). Hedonic behavior is individual behavior that prioritize pleasure and enjoyment as the main goal in life and usually done by adolescent. There are several factors that led the emergence of Hedonist behavior are self-concept, selfconfidence and self-esteem. The Subjects of this study ate the third-semester students of Faculty of Pharmacy, at University of Setia Budi Surakarta located at Jalan Let. Jen SutoyoMojosongo Surakarta. The instrument used in was a self-concept scale and hedonic scale behavior. Self-concept scale compiled based on aspects of the proposed Berzonsky (in Megasari, 2008). Hedonic behavior scale used in this study compiled based on the aspects raised by Sunoto (1997). Data analysis that used to test hypotheses in this research using product moment correlation technique of Karl Pearson by using SPSS 17.0 Windows Release. The results obtained by analysis of the correlation coefficient (r xy) of - 0.413, p = 0.002 (p <0.01). Thus, the hypothesis is accepted with a significance level at a very significant level, namely that there is a negative relationship between self-concept hedonic behavior in adolescents. The higher the of selfconcept in the lower hedonic behavior, and conversely the lower of self-concept is the higher hedonic behavior. Keywords: self-concept, adolescents, hedonistic behavior
