Abstract

Dragon fruit consumption level increases affect the rest of the discarded peel. This is unfortunate because the peel of the fruit has a number of advantages, one of which as a source of natural antioxidants, therefore it should be made preparations lozenges in order to use more effective and efficient. This study aims to know the influence of the combination of manitol and Primellose® against the physical nature of the tablet and antioxidant activity of lozenges. Extract peel of super red dragon fruit is made by maceration method using ethanol 70% and then tested the antioxidant activity with DPPH method. Lozenges peel of super red dragon fruit is made by dry granulation method with comparison of the concentration of manitol and Primellose® of F1 (41,3%: 0%), F2 (40.3%: 1%), F3 (39,3%: 2%), F4 (38%: 3%), and F5 (37.3%: 4%). Tablet evaluated by physical properties and antioxidant activity with DPPH method. The results of this study indicate below all qualified physical quality formula lozenges, the difference in the proportion of the combination of manitol and Primellose® provides the effect on physical properties of the lozenges, where the higher the Primellose® will increase the hardness, solubily time and lowering the friability of tablet. Lozenges extract peel of super red dragon fruit has antioxidant activity. Key words: Peel of Super Red Dragon fruit, lozenges, Primellose®, antioxidant, DPPH
