Abstract

Meniran herb and putri malu herb has been investigated as an antihyperuricemia folk medicine. This study aims to find antihyperuricemia activity on the combination of meniran herb and putri malu herb ethanolic extract in reducing the blood serum of uric acid level in leghorn cock. The experiment used 35 leghorn cock dividing in 7 groups randomly. Group I : negative control was given CMC 0,5%. Group II : positive control was given allupurinol at dose 14 mg/1,5kg bw. Group III : meniran herb ethanolic extract at dose 33mg/1,5kg bw. Group IV : putri malu herb ethanolic extract at dose 278mg/1,5kg bw. Group V,VI,VII given the combination of meniran herb and putri malu herb ethanolic extract with continued doses (75%:25% or 24,75mg/1,5kg bw : 69,5mg/1,5kg bw), (50%:50% or 16,5mg/1,5kg bw : 139mg/1,5kg bw), (25%:75% or 8,25mg/1,5kg bw : 208,5mg/1,5kg bw), respectively. This experiment has been conducted for 14 days. During the 7 days, all groups were treated with cock liver juice to induce hyperuricemia. After hyperuricemia, all group were given the sample except the negative control. The blood taken was conducted 3 times i.e day 0, 7, 14 , than uric acid level was measured with spectrophotometer. The data obtained were analyzed by One Way Anova (p <0,05) followed SNK test. The result showed that all ethanolic extract of meniran and putri malu herb would to reduce the blood serum of uric acid level in leghorn cock. While the effect of ethanolic extract combination was equivalent to single extract effect Furthermore, the combination of meniran herb and putri malu herb ethanolic extract at dose 75%:25% (24,75mg/1,5kg bw : 69,5mg/1,5kg bw) showed the biggest effect in decrease the uric acid level.
