Abstract

Famotidine is histamine H2-receptor widely used for peptic ulcer so suitable for made preparation fast disintegrating tablet (FDT) famotidine in order to obtain fast drug action and convenient to use. FDT is pharmaceutical dosage form that being developed at this time, because of its characteristic, which is quickly disintegrated in the mouth without the need to chew and without water help to swallow. This study was aimed to determine the effect combination of superdisintegrant Ac-Di-Sol® and sodium starch glycolate in FDT famotidine to physical quality and dissolution profile. This study was formulated with variety levels of Ac-Di-Sol® and sodium starch glycolate with ratio 5:6%, 3:5%, 2:7%, 4:0%, 0:4%. Made of FDT famotidine using direct feltmethod. Test conducted to determine physical quality of FDT famotidine were, hardness, friability, wetting time, disintegration time and dissolution. The results obtained showed that the combination of superdisintegrant Ac-Di-Sol® and Sodium starch glycolate (2:7%) wasaffect tophysical quality and the best drug release of FDT famotidine.
