Abstract

The attapulgit is an diarrhea medication of adsorbent group that works by absorbing the germs and toxins that cause diarrhea. The attapulgit in this study were made chewable tablet dosage form, to make it easier to drink, especially for children.This study was aimed to determine the effect of concentration variations of PVP K-30 and explotab to the physical quality of attapulgit chewable tablets. This study was done by making three formulas of concentrations varying of PVP K-30: Explotab, Formula I (3% to 5%), formula II (4%: 4%), formula III (5% 3%). The testing are includes of flow time, drying shrinkage, repose angle, weight uniformity, tablet hardness, friability tablet, tablet shattered time and flavor responsiveness. The statistical analysis was conducted using one-way ANOVA with 95% confidence level using SPSS 18. The result of the study showed that attapulgit could be made chewable tablets preparation using PVP K-30 as binder and explotab as disintegration. From the disintegration time test, it could be seen that formula I provided the best result compared with formulas II and III.
