Abstract

Ylang folwers is one of the medicinal plants that have long been used to treat various ailments, such as headaches, puerperal fever, urinary tract inflammation, arthritis/ rheumatism and others. This research aimed to determine the analgesic effect of ethanol extract of ylang flower and establish doses that provide optimal analgesic effect of 3 (three) variation of the doses administered. Ylang flower was extracted by maceration method using ethanol 95%. Testing analgesic effect using Sigmund method with acetic acid 3% as the inductor pain. White male mice Swiss trains were devided into 5 treatment groups, each group consisted of 5 mice. The treatment group were: negative control, positive control, ylang flower extract at a dose of 1,180 mg/20 g BB, 2,359 mg/20gBB, and 4,718 mg/20gBB. This observation, were done during the 60 minutes each interval of 10 minutes to asses the response of mice in the form of the abdomen of mice with touch the bottom of the steps and the two pairs of legs drawn. Data was statistically analyzed by One Way ANAVA with a level of confidence 95%, followed by LSD test. The result showed that ylang flower extract at a dose of 1,180 mg/20gBB, 2,359 mg/20gBB, and 4,718 mg/20g BB has analgesic effect on male white mice induced pain. Ylang flower extract at a dose of 4,718 mg/20 g BB was the most optimal analgesic effects of 64,83%. Key word : Ylang flower (Canangium odoratum Baill), Ethanol extract, Sigmund, Analgesic
