Abstract

One of the plants is efficacious as a diuretic that purple spinach leaves (Althernanlhera strigosa Hask). A medicine for diuretics of plants will be much safer than synthetic drugs. The purpose of this research was know the diuretic activity as well as the effective dose infusion of purple spinach leaves in male rats strain wistar. Purple spinach leaves powder (Althernanthera strigosa Hask) was extracted by means of infundation with the water solvent. Results infusion tested in animal experiments to determine the effect of the diuretic furosemide and compared using 0.72 mg / 200g of body weight. This method was using animal test as much as 25 male rats strain wistar were divided into 5 groups, namely CMC 0.5%, 0.72 mg / 200g BB, purple spinach leaf infusion at a dose of 54 mg / 200g BB, 108 mg / 200g BB, and 162 mg / 200g of body weight. Test animals were caged metabolic, urine volume was measured cumulative and AUC (Area Under the Curve). Data were analyzed with one way ANOVA level of 95%, then do LSD (Least Significant Difference) and SNK. The results showed that the infusion of purple spinach leaves has activity as a diuretic. The most effective dose of the diuretic effect was 162 mg / 200g of body weight. Keywords: Purple spinach leaves (Althernanthera strigosa Hask), Infusion, diuretic
