Abstract

Pegagan (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) is a plant that has antioxidant activity. The study was aimed tomake preparations of pegaganextract cream with base variety of vaseline alba and propylene glycol and to know the influence of base variations of vaseline alba and propylene glycol to the physical quality test of Indian pennywort extract cream. Pegagan extract cream was prepared using 1,5% pegagan extract with base variations of vaseline alba and propylene glycol, the formula I (6,70 gram vaseline alba and propylene glycol 5,12 gram), the formula 2 (9,06 gram vaseline alba and 7,09 gram propylene glycol), formula 3 (10,24 gram vaseline alba and 9,06gram propylene glycol). And then the cream was tested for its physical quality test including organoleptic test, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, dispersive and adhesion power and were observed for one month. Data was statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey’s test at 95% confidence. The study showed that the extract of Pegagan (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) with base variations of vaseline alba and propylene glycol could be made cream preparations and the larger base variations of vaseline alba and propylene glycol the greater viscosity and dispersive power as well as the smaller the adhesion power.
