Abstract

Cherry plant is one of traditional medicinal plants used widely in Indonesia. Cheery leaves contain flavonoid compound expected to have diuretic activity. This research aimed to find out the effect of cherry leaves infuse on the Wistar-strain male rat. Cherry leave was made into infuse using infundation method. The tested animals were divided into 5 groups. Each of groups consisted of 5 rats. Groups I (positive control) was given 2.5 ml furosemide, II (negative control) CMC, III (cherry leaves infuse at 6% level b/v), IV (cherry leaves infuse at 12% level b/v), V (cherry leaves infuse at 24% level b/v). Volume of urine was calculated every hour for 6 hours. The data obtained were then analyzed AUC and statistically using ANOVA and followed with LSD test at confidence level of 95%. The result of research showed that cherry (Muntingia calabura L.) leaves infuse had diuretic activity. The level of cherry leaves infuse providing diuretic effect most effectively was 25% b/v.
