Abstract
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a disease of carbohydrate metabolism disorders were characterized by high blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia) and the presence of glucose in the urine (glucosuria). One of diabetes mellitus treatment was used traditional plants. One of the plants that can be used for anti-diabetic drugs is papaya seeds. The research purpose was determined the anti-diabetic effect of papaya seeds to prevent an increase in blood glucose levels were given more glucose load. Papaya seeds were identified their contain compounds before done the study. This study was used a glucose load in mice was orally administered. With positive control of glibenclamide, negative control of CMC, and variations in the doses of 7 mg/20 gBW of mice, 14 mg/20 gBW of mice, and 21 mg/20 gBW of mice, then was observed the blood glucose levels in the minutes of 30th 60th, 90th, and 120th. From the statistical data results the reduction in blood glucose of three variations doses of papaya seed extract significantly to the diabetes group. The most effective dose in decrease the blood glucose levels is dose of 21 mg/20 gBW, but not as big as decrease in the drug group.
