Abstract

Methyl salicylas was used for analgesic, carminative, diuretic, to treat rheumatism, prevent hair loss, antiseptic and anthelmintic. Methyl salicylas can be mixed with oil and can be used as a stockpile cream. The addition of the oil phase will cause the cream to liquid, to prevent those incident happen, so cera alba was added as a thickener with a concentration of 2% variation (formula 1), 4% (formula 2), and 6% (formula 3). The purpose of this research is to make methyl salicylic cream that containing of cera alba as a thickener and to know the physical quality test and stability test. The production of methyl salicylic cream using cream-making method with type M / A. Methyl salicylic was made with variety of concentrations cera alba2%, 4%, and 6%. Furthermore, each formula tested organoleptic, viscosity, dispersive power, adhesion, and pH. Cream observed for 3 weeks. After that, the data was analyzed by one-way ANOVA statistical test of SNK continued using 95% significant level. The results showing that methyl salicylic would be used for stockpile cream, with using base that contain of cera alba. Cream with variety concentrations of methyl salicylic cera alba was fulfill the physical quality test and stability test in storage for a period of three weeks.
