Abstract

Pneumonia is an lungs inflammation were caused by bacteria with symptoms of high fever accompanied by cough with phlegm, rapid breathing (breath frequency > 50 breaths / min), tightness, and other symptoms (headache, restlessness and poor appetite). Antibiotics are drugs for pneumonia tackle. The study purposes were determined the antibiotic using pattern in pneumonia outpatient in Dr. Moewardi Hospital of 2014 and the antibiotic using conformity to the Hospital Formulary and Hospital Medical Care Standards. This study was used purposive sampling technique included in the nonprobability sampling method. Data collection was performed by secondary data pneumonia collecting on antibiotic using of outpatient patients aged 45 years and over by examining reports on the antibiotics using every month starting from the month of January to December 2014 in Medical Records Unit of Dr. Moewardi Hospital. The research results were showed the antibiotic using patterns of pneumonia outpatient in Dr. Moewardi hospital of 2014 was used a single antibiotic therapy includes of azithromycin, levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, cefadroxil, cefixime, zycin, and ofloxacin, and used antibiotic therapy combination with cefadroxil azithromycin, azithromycin with levofloxacin, and cefixime with levofloxacin. The suitability of the antibiotics using to the hospital formulary is appropriate, as indicated by the suitability percentage of 85.71%, while the antibiotics using suitability to the of Hospital Medical Care Standards is less appropriate, as indicated by the suitability percentage of 28.57%.
