Abstract

One of the plants that have anticancer effects is the leaves of the soursop (Annona Muricata L.). soursop leaves contain acetogenins compound as inhibitor I or inhibiting the growth of cancer cells. Soursop leaves extract can be formulated in tablet dosage form by added excipients. The extract of soursop leaf was prepared in a variety of PVP binder and Explotab® dissolved concentrations so that a high-quality chewy tablet was produced. Tablet manufacturing of soursop leaf extract used wet granulation method. Granulation is made with three Formulas, the Formula I PVP 4% and Explotab® 7%, Formula II PVP 3% and Explotab 5%, Formula III PVP 2% and Explotab® 3%. The obtained data was analyzed statistically using one way anova followed by SNK test at 95% confidence. The result of the study showed that soursop leaves extract could be made anticancer tablet which meet the requirements of physical quality test. Tablets of Formula I could produce the tablet with high harshness, low brittleness and longer destruction time than Formula II and III. Keywords: Soursop leaves, tablet, PVP, Explotab®.
