Abstract
Long beans (Vigna sinensis (L.) Savi ex Hassk.) Is one of the medicinal plants. The leaves and roots are efficacious as a diuretic. The study purpose was determined the diuretics effect and determined the long bean leaf infusion dose are effective as a diuretic in male white wistar strain rats. The solvent was used for the extraction of long beans leaves is water. The study method was used infundation. The infusion of the long beans leaves were tested on male white wistar strain rats. The tested animals were divided into 5 groups each group consisted of 5 male white wistar strain rats. Group I is negative control of 0.5% CMC suspension (2.5 ml/200 g BW), group II is positive control of furosemide (0.72 mg/200 g BW), group III, IV and V are preparations of long bean leaves infusion (0,225 g/200 g BW, 0.45 g/200 g BW and 0.9 g/200 g BW). Infusion was administered orally and then observed the diuretic effects for 6 hours. The data was analyzed using 1-way ANOVA followed Post Hoc Test Tukay HSD α = 0.05). From the research result was obtained the long beans leaves infusion have a diuretic effect. The effective dose was 0.9 g/200 g BW with total AUC value of 3.94 ml.h and percentage of diuretic power is 87.61%. Keywords: Leaves of longs beans (Vigna sinensis (L.)
