Abstract

Kesambi seeds (Schleichera oleosa Merr.) contains tannins, saponin, alkaloids and triterpenoids. Kesambi seeds can be used as a traditional medicine to treat internal disease, scabies and wounds. The purpose of this study is to investigate antibacterial activity of ethanol extract ointment kesambi seeds against bacterial infection Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 in rabbits back stated by the healing wound infections in concentration of 25% and 50%. Kesambi seeds extracted with maceration method, extracts is made a ointment with base hydrocarbons with a concentration of 25% and 50%. The ointment is applied once daily on infected wound observations performed until it heals with the loss of pus and dried sores. Results of this study showed that the most effective ointment extract of kesambi seeds was ointment with concentration 50%.
