Abstract
Water is one of the basic human needs. Water refill gallons are water that can be directly drunk without the need of cooking process first, because it has undergone sterilization process using ultraviolet, ozonisasi or both. Good water is water colorless, odorless and tasteless. There are conditions where gallon water contains nitrite that is when the filter for filtration is never cleaned or it has been too long not replaced. Nitrite deposits exceeding 0.06 ppm are dangerous because if nitrite is swallowed it can cause vomiting, dizziness, pressure of blood pressure, abdominal pain, coma and even death. The purpose of this research is to know the nitrite level in the water of refill gallon in Mojosongo area. Quantitative test on refill gallon water using UV-Vis spectrophotometry was performed using NaNo2 standard, 10 ml sample sampling then added 2 ml of sulfanilic acid and naphthylamine (1: 1) reagent. Read on UV-Vis spectrophotometry at 520 nm wavelength. Quantitative test results to 10 samples, there are 2 samples that measure more than the standard level of sample no.1 for 0100 ppm and sample no.8 of 0.071 ppm. So the nitrite content in samples no.1 and no.8 is more than normal based on Law no. 82 of 2001 states that the maximum requirement for nitrite load in water is 0.06 mg / L.
