Abstract

Improving levels of triglycerides to form plaques on the walls of the blood vessels which is artherosclerosis a major cause of coronary heart disease. Mole crabs (Emerita emeritus L.) is marine animals that contain a variety of nutrients omega 3 (EPA and DHA) which one can lower triglyceride levels. This research is aimed to know the effect of giving the granule mole crabs to the levels of triglyceride of male white rat and effective dose. Mole crabs granule was made by wet granulation method that use additional materials. This research used 30 male white rat which were devided into 6 group of tests. Group I (normal group), group II (granule lactose), group III (gemfibrozil), group IV (granule mole crabs 273 mg/kg bb), group V (granule mole crabs 546 mg/kg bb), group VI (granule mole crabs 819 mg/kg bb). Measurement of triglyceride levels done on 0 day, 14 days and 21 days. All the rat (except normal controls) created hipertriglyceridemia with inducted pork fat and egg yolk for 14 days. Materials test given for 7 days. Triglyceride levels were analyzed with One Way ANOVA then proceed with the Post Hoc Test. The result of the research showed there was a decrease in the levels of triglycerides granule mole crabs on the 21 days. At doses 819 mg/kg bb had effect levels to decrease triglycerides that almost same with gemfibrozil. Keyword : Mole crabs, triglyceride level, male white rat
