Abstract
Salbutamol sulphate have maximum absorption in stomach and bioavailability 50% on conventional form, to increase bioavailability salbutamol sulphate can be modified to mucoadhesive system. The research aims to study influence of combination sodium alginat and karbopol on physical characteristics and release profile of salbutamol sulphates. The research is using five variation of concentration sodium alginate and karbopol with dry granulation. The physical characteristics tablet evaluated by uniform of dosage form, hardnes, fragility, swelling and strength mucoadhesive. Release profile measure by disolution with apparatus II USP paddle with 900mL HCl 0,1N, stirring 50rpm, temperature 37±0,5oC for six hours. Analyze salbutamol use spektrofotometri UV-Vis on 244nm. Variation of concentration sodium alginate and karbopol influence on the physical characteristics, the ability of mucoadhesive and release profile of the drug. Combination of sodium alginate and karbopol with concentration 15%:15% had the ability high swelling and causing the powerful properties of mucoadhesive, because the surface who touch with mucin more wider. The ability of high swelling also retardant release because the distance between drug with medium far and drug will be difficult to dissolve. The release profile of salbutamol sulphate follow higuchi with diffusion and erosion of mechanism released. Key words : mucoadhesive, salbutamol sulphate, sodium alginate, carbopol
