Abstract
The aims of UTI treatment are to relieve symptoms, prevent and treat bacteriuria, also prevent and reduce the risk of kidney tissue damage that may arise with the drugs administration which are sensitive, inexpensive and safe with minimal side effects. This study was aimed to determine the use of antibiotic of UTI treatment in adult inpatients at Sukoharjo hospital in 2013 observed from the type of antibiotic used and the quantity with ATC/DDD method, DU 90% then adjusted to Formulary and Standard of Hospital Medical Service. This study was an descriptive study with retrospective data collection throught the entire medical record on patient’s urinary tract infections in adult inpatient at Sukoharjo Hospital. Data was taken in the form of groups of antibiotics, dosage form, dosage strength and the amount of usage. The results were then calculated as DDD/100 day, DU 90% showed the amount of drug usage that reaches 90% then adjusted to Formulary and Standard of Hospital Medical Service. The results of this study showed that antibiotics used in 2013 were groups of chloramphenicol, first, second, third generation of cephalosporins, quinolone, and penicillins. Antibiotics that included into DU 90% in 2013 were ciprofloxacin, ampicillin, cefotaxime, ceftriaxone, cefazoline. Suitability of antibiotic items with the formulary based on the generic name was 100%. Suitability of antibiotic items with the Standards of Medical Care based on type, dose and duration were amoxicillin, and ampicillin.
