Abstract
Mannitol-dextrose is a mixture of sweeteners that are optimized in this research to obtain optimum formula. Mannitol gives sweet and cool sensation when consumed. Dextrose has a better sweeteness level than lactose. The purpose of this research is to determine the combination of mannitol-dextrose lozenges on the physical properties and obtain optimum formula. The etanolic red ginger extract lozenges form created by using wetgranulation method with five sweetener mannitol-dextrose combination formulas, namely (100%:0%);(75%:25%)(50%:50%);(25%:75%); and (0%:100%). Each formula is made into granule and tablet, then tested using a critical point parameter which involves flow velocity, hardness, fragility, and disintegration time. Later to be optimized in simplex lattice design with Design Expert 8.0.6.1 programme. Optimum formula validated by comparing critical point respond value between theoretical result and experiment result using t test with significant rate 95%. Optimum formula is basically determined by critical point parameter of tablet physical quality using Design Expert 8.0.6.1, when it obtains 90% mannitol and 10% dextrose proportion later it will result a physically good quality of etanolic red ginger extract lozenges form.
