Abstract

Impaired cognitive function is closely related to brain function because of the ability to think will be affected by the brain. One of the popular traditional plants and believed to have efficacy in improving memory is green tea leaves (Camellia sinensis (L.) OK). Plants become another option to be combined with green tea leaf is black cumin (Nigella sativa, L). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the combination dose of green tea leaves and black cumin compared to a single dose of each plant as well as variations in the dose that provides the most good effect on memory improvement. This study uses the step-through passive avoidance latency with the parameters of the time difference before and after treatment were obtained from the amount of time it takes mice to find a way out after being inserted into the maze. Consists of 35 mice treated with 7 groups, namely the positive control, negative control, green tea single 0.56 mg / kg, single black cumin 11.2 mg / kg, a combination of green tea extract 0.56 mg / kg with variation of black cumin dose respectively 5.6 mg / kg, 11.2 mg / kg, and 22.4 mg / kg, each group consisting of 5 test animals. The results obtained were analyzed using two-way ANOVA. The test results showed a statistically significant difference from each test group where the dosage of of green tea leaves 0.56 mg / kg BW and black cumin seeds 11.2 mg / kg BW showed effects that increased cognitive memory.
