Abstract

Lemon grass (Cymbopogon nardus L. Rendle) is a medicinal plant, one of which is efficacious as anti mosquito (repellent). The aim of this research is to know whether or not pharmaceutical preparation is made by gel of lemon grass (Cymbopogon nardus L. Rendle) using combination of Aqupec HV-505 variation. The research was done by using the method of juice. The gel was prepared on the basis of Aqupec HV-505 with various concentrations, formula 1 (0.5%), formula 2 (1%), formula 3 (1.5%). Tests performed on gel are organoleptic test, homogeneity test, viscosity test, adherence test, spreading test, and pH test. The result of organoleptic test, homogeneity test and pH test were analyzed descriptively while the viscosity test, glue test and gel power test were analyzed statistically using one way ANOVA with 95% confidence level. The results showed that Aqupec HV-505 concentration had an effect on physical stability test of gel, indicated by increasing concentration of Aqupec HV505 then increased viscosity, sticky test and organoleptic test with gel consistency observation. In the scatter test, the greater the concentration of Aqupec HV-505, the smaller the gel power, while the pH test showed that the greater the concentration of Aqupec HV-505, the lower the pH of the gel, the more acidic. Formulas 2 (1%) and 3 (1,5%) have good gel physical properties. Keywords: Citronella Fragrance (Cymbopogon nardus L. Rendle), Aqupec HV505
