Abstract
Hypertension is an increase in diastolic and systolic blood pressure at serial 160/90 mmHg or more. Hypertension is a common public health problem in developing countries, and hypertension is the second highest cause of death in Indonesia. The experiment was aimed to evaluate drug efficacy and safety associated with the expected according to the patient’s condition. And compared the suitability with hospital formulary (FRS) and the JNC 7 guidelines. The research is a quantitative study using the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC) or Defined DailyDose (DDD). This method is recommended by the WHO to evaluate the use of the drug. Data were collected retrospectively by taking the patient's medical record of hypertension hospitalizations in 2012 and 2013. Based on the calculation method and DU 90% DDD results of this study concluded that antihypertensive drugs most widely used by the DU 90% segment in 2012 is amlodipine (35,58%), Bisoprolol (30,77%), furosemide (13,37%) , Captopril (7,95%), hydrochlorothiazide (6,36%). And in 2013 was amlodipine (49,24%), furosemide (18,01%), captopril (14,55%), hydrochlorothiazide (7.33%). Conformity based on FRS in 2012 (100%) and 2013 (87,5%) and by the JNC 7 in 2012 (87,5%) and 2013 (87,5%). There is no change in the pattern of use of antihypertensive drugs between 2012 and 2013. Keywords: Drug, Antihypertensive, ATC / DDD, DU90%
