Abstract

Science and technology in health sector develop very rapidly in several last years; one attempt of improving health care is through pharmaceutical area, including hospital development. Picture ofdrug usecan be seenfromthe WHOprescribingindicatorsareintended to measure the implementation of supplying several main dimension of health care relating to drug use that can be carried out retrospectively. The objective of research was the mean item number of drug per prescription sheet, proportion of generic drug, proportion of antibiotics, proportion of injection, proportion of essential drug corresponding to formulary. The changing proportion could be seen in each prescription indicator in Abepura Local General Hospital in 2011, 2012, and 2013. This study employed a descriptive research design with retrospective approach. The data used was quantitative one. All of prescription patterns were measured by comparing them against WHO’s standards and previous studies conducted by WHO in Indonesian. The result of research showed that in 2011, 2012, and 2013, respectivelyforthe averagenumberof drugsperprescriptionitemwas 3,5; 3,4and3,7; percentage ofgenericprescriptionswas92,30%; 91,95% and91,04%; percentage ofantibioticprescriptionswas17,66%; 17,29% and18,61%; percentage ofinjectiondrugprescriptionwas 2,49%, 1,28% and 6%; percentage ofprescriptiondrugformularyin accordancewitha health cardis87,10%, 85,80% and86,59%.
