Abstract

Material used in this research was a herb of Ciplukan (Physalis angulata L). It is a traditional medicine that was used as an antioxidant, anticancer, antiinflammatory, malaria, dermatitis and rheumatism (Kumar et al., 2011). According to Meiyanto (2008) ciplukan ethanol extract of the herb has a cytotoxic effect with IC50 value of 187μg /ml. This led the researchers to continue the study until the stage of the herb ciplukan subfraction. The purpose of this study was to know the antioxidant activity of extracts and fractions ciplukan herbs and effect subfraction against cytotoxic activity in MCF-7 cells and classes of compounds that play a role in the testing. Ciplukan herb extraction was done by maceration and then it were be fractionate use Vacuum Liquid Chromatography (KCV). Each subfraction tested its effect on the activity Vero cells and MCF-7 using the MTT method with a variety of doses (500, 250, 125, 62.5, 31.25) µg/ml. Cisplatin (Kalbe) was used as a positive control. The data were analyzed using SPSS 18. The results showed that the antioxidant activity of ethyl acetate fraction had the most good IC50 value is 205.25μg/ml and sixth subfraction results showed that D subfraction ciplukan herb highest IC50 value was 40.38 ug / ml against MCF-7 cells. The addition of ciplukan herbs subfraction were cytotoxic to Vero cells. Subfraksi herb ciplukan in TLC with UV ray containing: steroids and flavonoids.
