Abstract
Curcuma zedoaria rhizomes contains several efficacious compounds in the treatments including flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and alkaloids. This study aims to determine the subcronic toxicity of ethanolic extract curcuma zedoaria rhizomes for 28 days with the parameters of SGOT, SGPT and histopathology of wistar white rat heart levels, and dose did not toxic effects. The extraction method used was maceration with 70% ethanol solvent. The study used animal-testing, white rats as many as 50 rats in 5 groups, each consisting of 5 males and 5 females. The control group was given CMC Na, while the dose group was given ethanolic extract of Curcuma zedoaria rhizomes orally at dose of 250 mg/kgBB, 500 mg/kgBB, 1000 mg/kgBB for 28 days and continued 14 days (satellite). The biochemical parameters consisted of SGOT, SGPT and liver histopathology enzyme activities. The SGOT and SGPT examination data were analyzed using One Way ANOVA, and histopathology percentage calculation of normal cells and damaged cells. The results that the ethanol extract of Curcuma zedoaria rhizomes for 28 days at dose 250 mg/kgBB did not toxic effects with parameters of SGOT, SGPT, dan hepar histopathology.
