Abstract

Flower kenop (Gomphrena globosa L.) is one of the bioactive compounds for antioxidants and antibacterials. This study aims to determine the total phenolic compound concentration of the kenop flower extract (Gomphrena globosa L.) and compare the yield of total phenolic content with different solvent concentration. This study needs to be done because of the increasing use of herbal medicine as a cure or disease prevention. The method used to determine the total phenolic content using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer with a fault acid comparator and Folin-Ciocalteau reagent. The principle of this method is the reaction between the phenol compound with the Folin-Ciocalteau reagent producing blue color according to the total phenol content which reacts due to reduction by the Folin-Ciocalteau reagent The results showed that the total phenolic content of flower kenop (Gomphrena globosa L.) with ethanol 30% was 1.0364%, 70% ethanol solvent was 1,1974% and 96% ethanol solvent was 1.4425%. It can be concluded that the total phenolic content of crown ethanol extract (Gomphrena globosa L.) is highest in 96% ethanol solvent concentration. Key Locks: Phenolic, Extract, Folin-Ciocalteau, UV-Vis Spectrophotomete
