Abstract
Inflammation is the body's response to inactivate organisms that attack, eliminating irritants, and regulate tissue repair. This study uses the plant rhizome of turmeric (Curcuma domesticae Val.) and ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc.), with the aim of knowing the antiinflammatory effects of a combination of both, as well as to know the dose combinations that can provide the most optimal effects, and to determine the pharmacodynamic interaction that occurs from a combination both. Antiinflammatory activity test performed on 7 groups of mice. 1st group were given CMC 0.5%, the 2nd group were given methyl prednisolone, 3rd group was given turmeric extract 200 mg/200 g BW, 4th group was given ginger extract 60 mg/200 g BW, 5th group were given a combination of turmeric and ginger extracts 25% ED:75% ED (50 mg:45 mg)/200 g BW, 6th group given a combination of 50% ED:50% ED (100 mg:30 mg)/200 g BW , and the group given a combination 7th 75% ED:25% ED (150 mg:15 mg)/200 g BW, each group induced karagenin, then measured the volume of edema at t0, t1, t2, t3, t4, t5, t6 , and AUC calculated his t24 and thus obtained results % anti-inflammatory power. The results showed a combination of turmeric and ginger extracts have anti-inflammatory effects and optimal synergistic in inhibiting edema volume than a single test preparation. Doses that provide the most optimal effect is dose combinations respectively 50% ED (100 mg:30 mg). Keywords: Turmeric (Curcuma domesticae Val.), ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc.), anti-inflammatory.
