Abstract

Acetylsalicylic acid or acetosal is a drug that acts as an analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory commonly used by the wider community. Acetosal is also an anticoagulant when administered in low doses and used in a long time to prevent heart attacks. A side effect of asetil salisilat acid not stimulate the mucosa of the stomach with the risk of the bleeding. Acetilsalicylic acid is stable in dry air but is hydrolysed slowly in the moist air to acetic acid and salicylic acid during storage which sometimes exceeds the expiration limit before it si distributed, so that quality control and examination of levels related to the acetosal content of the drug product are necessary. The determination of acetosal levels in Aspilet® tablets with variation of expiration date by UV Spectrophotometry with a solvent ethanol 95% at wavelengths 226 nm and with the parameters of the result of validation linieritas test, LOD, LOQ, accuracy, and precision. The data collected processed using SPSS version 18 Anova test. The results showed that the acetosal content in Aspilet® tablet had not expired 102.50% and Aspilet® tablet expired exactly 91.76% both still meet the requirements standard according to FI Edition IV that is not less than 90.0% and not more than 110.0% of the amount stated on etiquette while the asphalt Aspilet® tablet expired 89.90% did not enter range measured manner required and there were significant differences from the three samples.
