Abstract
Nipagin is kind of preservative that often used in beauty product or cosmetic because it’s easy to be mixed with some components in cosmetic. The purpose of this research is to analyse nipagin preservative in face toner product with spectrophotometry according to the agreeable of regulation of head of Badan POM Republik Indonesia No. HK.00.05.42.1018. Nipagin testing in face toner product include in quality test and quantity test. Quality test was done by comparing the color which formed from sample solution toward standatr solution using deniges reactor and natrium nitrit 2 % b/v. Quantity test use UV – Vis spectrophotometry method measured on maximum wavelength 505 nm based on a standard curve with concentration 5 mg/L, 10 mg/L, 15 mg/L, 20 mg/L, 25 mg/L and 30 mg/L. Based on result of testing in laboratory nipagin level, the amount of sample A (0,06 ± 0,01) %, sample B (0,06 ± 0,05) % and sample C (0,1 ± 0,07) % which the third sample fill the regulation of Head of Badan POM Republik Indonesia Nomor HK.00.05.42.1810 is not more than 0,04 %.
