Abstract

Hypertension is a main health problem frequently found in Indonesia. This problem happening to anyone from any social classes is characterized by the persistent increase of blood pressure caused by structural malfunction of tissue or body organ. This happens progressively due to aging or lifestyle. Drugs choosing must be based on both indication and contra indication that fit patient’s condition. Some drugs can be chosen are ACE Inhibitor, alpha-receptor blockers, betablockers, antagonis calsium. This study aims to find out the usage of antihypertensive drugs on geratric patiens hospitalized at RSUD Sukoharjo in 2013 using ATC/DDD method and compatibility between Hospital Formulary and Standardized Medical Servise (SPM). This is a deskriptive study and data for it have been collected retrospectively from medical records in 2013. The quantity of drugs used was calculated using ATC/DDD method. The data then were analysed to figure out the quantity of antihypertensive drugs used in DDD/100 unit inpatient day and drug utilization (DU 90%) profile. The results showed that antihypertensive drugs frequently used at RSUD Sukoharjo in 2013 were captopril, amlodipin, furosemid, hydroclorotiazid, candesartan, bisoprolol, chlonidin, nifedipin and lisinopril. From the DU 90% table, drugs that were in DU 90% segment were captopril, amlodipine and furosemide. While, compatibility between those drugs and FRS was 90% and SPM was 50%.
